    .dwi files theory

    #TITLE:;
    #ARTIST:;
    #FILE(song name and format, e.g. Six.mp3):;
    #BPM:200.000;
    #GAP:-40; <--- very important, it syncs the song
    #SAMPLESTART:100.000;
    #SAMPLELENGTH:11.940;
    #SINGLE:SMANIAC:15:
    07044428
    62022286
    47428428
    42642621
    04442864
    30222286
    86428428
    42642624!4
    (042!20026!60068!80082!20)

    Looking at that, I sometimes have no clue what to do, but this is my theory.

    00000000 = Eigth notes (because there are eight columns)
    0000 = quarter notes
    Now many of you obviously know that 4=left, 6=right, 8=up, and 2=down.
    But what does that "7" stand for?

    Acceptable solution: Taking close observation, that number on the NUMPAD is diagonal up-left, which means it is between 4 and 8, so it is an up-left jump.

    How do you make left-right jumps?: Well, I'm not sure, but maybe a 5 on the numpad will do.

      0=blank space
      Amount of numbers per line=how the measure is subdivided, 8 numbers is 8th notes, 16 is 16ths, etc.
      4268=singletaps
      1793=jumps
      A=left right jump
      B=up down jump
      I forget how to do mines and holds and **** but that's the basics

        Yo dore thanks a bunch!

        Note: that is why I called my dwi thing a THEORY, not a TRUE thing.

            Do you know what these lines mean? Is the second line there 24ths? And what significance do the "!" have in the line? Are those what are used for holds?

            I wish I could understand dwi files. Maybe there's a site I can google, but I'm too lazy at present. Maybe I'll look tomorrow.

              Who cares to understand .dwi files when you have .sm files.

                I can be a dork about wanting to understand useless and obsolete things. Also, I heard that BPMguy isn't allowed to use Stepmania for whatever reason, so I guess he's trying to help those who also can't use it.
                Still, I don't know how much can be accomplished on Notepad. Oh wait, there IS my llama song. That was notepad. My best file ever.

                  But FFr needs dwi files, not just sm files, right

                    Re: .dwi files theory

                    Not sure, but you'd only need one or the other on SM. If you have an .sm, you don't need a .dwi.

                    SM files do everything DWI files do and more. If FFR uses SM files, then DWIs are essentially obsolete unless you still use Dance With Intensity.

                      Re: .dwi files theory

                      FFR requires dwis
                      SM saves as both so it doesn't matter which you use as long as you have SM

                      If you don't have SM DL XStep or something.
                      If you can't get that don't bother because you'll never get a file accepted without playtesting it.
