Simfile Help

I wanted to try my hand at making simfiles, and figured with so many great simfile artists frequenting the boards maybe someone could help me out a bit. I did read the stickies, but I am having problems. Does everyone use Goldwave to find the gap of a song? Also what I have been using for finding the BPM is MixMeister. The first song I was looking at to test out seemed like it had a constant BPM, but it seems off somehow. I tried changing the BPM up a bit and shifting the gap to no avail.

use your old bpm and change the bpm.

I wouldn't really need to use the old BPM just to change it would I?
