I NEED HELP WITH MAKING A STEPFILE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

I have been trying to make a good stepfile to play on stepmania but i cant seem to get the songs in time with the steps. its confusing the hell out of me with trying to find "the gap" and "the BPM" and match it correctly. anyway, ive been using xstep and i think that might be the problem. so if someone cant give me song help that would be great.

In the editor, use F11 and 12 to increase the beat 0 offset (you can see it in the lower right hand corner). Keep tinkering with it until it is onbeat. A good method for finding this is to fill like the first 10 bars with left and right 4th doubles, and keep tinkering with the beat 0 offset until the doubles match the beat of the song.

I use a program called audacity to zoom in on a song in order to find the gap... make sure you enter it in milliseconds, not seconds (ie, 5000, not 5.000)

For bpm, I used to use winBPM, but that stopped working on my comp, so I got a free trial dj program, but then the trial expired, now I have this thing called mixmeister bom analyzer. It works automatically, and is generally pretty accurate, except that it has no manual check, which is annoying. And everynow and then it will provide 2/3 of the bpm or 1/2 it or something.
