Re: The Last Step Pack (Submissions Open)
I've reviewed a few files, they're just pending playtests. Which I'd have done this weekend, except I got sick enough to go see a doctor.
I'm slowly doing better now but that's the best update I can give you.Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun beepComment

Re: The Last Step Pack (Submissions Open)
Regardless of my time, or motivation, I will see this pack finished. If I for some reason cannot, it would be passed off to someone I trust would do well by the material.
tldr: may take a while, but the pack will be finished. I started the pack when I was pumping out charts but stuff has just not gone my way.
Also thanks
I have a clogged left ear atm and the cough left. Which WOULD be workable with just the cough but the left ear's roughly 30% muted I'd guess.
... Funny you mention this, I literally just heard something as I was listening to nier's soundtrack, Youtube recommended me some Yuki Kajiura music I hadn't heard before.
That said, some songs I really want to see charted:
(Pretty much anything Yuki Kajiura has made would be just plz. I'm a major fanboy and I can admit that.)
If someone is feeling really adventurous (Any song from this):
(I can help with syncing, and give a full quality MP3. My brother is in the band and has given me permission to do what I want with it.) (I've also got a work in progress that if someone wanted to finish here that'd be cool.)
Personally want to see Requiem and House of Black and White done myself, and they're the most chart-able.
And I started a chart for this:
But if someone wants to complete it, that'd be great.Download here
(Also stuff from the Nier: Automata OST would be great. I'm not picky on difficulties, and tbh some lighter works in the pack would help give the pack some more range.)
(If multiple people sub this and I like them, I'll combine them onto a file myself and make it a collab between you all, assuming the song isn't cut differently from each other.)
other random songs I think could make great files:
If I had to pick a song from this post though I wanted most, It's probably let the stars fall down. I tried to chart it myself and couldn't.Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun beepComment

Re: The Last Step Pack (Submissions Open)
I typically don't. I chart things I invest in personally, and it takes about a week plus for me to invest in a song enough to chart it.Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun beepComment

Re: The Last Step Pack (Submissions Open)
on this:
I'm now MUCH better, and my hearing is 100% back, which means I can review / playtest once again.
However, an issue for me that is coming up constantly, and I think it's fair enough to say it hinders the quality of reviews I'd like to have, is that often the file's submitted are falling outside of what I can physically play these days. (I've got a lot of skill decay due to not playing constantly.)
As such, I'd like to request someone to assist me in the play-testing department. This will both speed up reviews, and give simauthors more to work with, and give better reviews.
What I'd like to request:
- D5+ Skill level is a requirement. You don't need to AAA, AA or FC files, I just need to know that you're capable of actually playing them, and this is the range most files submitted fall into. There's some outliers, but you're comments will still have a much better structure to them than mine.
- The ability to write thoughts on how sections of the file flow and are constructed from a player perspective. (AKA I would like if you can write more than "the file flowed great and I enjoyed playing it." Comments such as "at 30.355 - 40.355 the jumpstreams camp the 3 and 4 a little more tightly than the rest and it causes a bit of a difficulty spike.")
- I would also like to request that you'd be willing to sift though the past songs I've already reviewed, and give them a replay for me to ensure my notes are fair, and because a second set of eyes never hurt anyone.
Note: You don't need to be someone who has made a file before. I think a pure player perspective is helpful here. Just being able to express your feelings clearly on how it plays and flows to you is what I am looking for.
Please PM me if you're interested either on here, or on discord.
This should speed up reviews in the long run I hope. I have not been the most reliable, and that needs to be addressed. Doing this means I don't need to playtest them myself immediately, and feedback can be posted sooner.
If I find someone who suits my needs for this, submissions will be changed to e-mail only so this person can grab the files at their own leisure, as I'm gone from home when most of you are awake.
I understand there's likely a person who's thinking "if you knew this might be a problem from the get-go why didn't you do this from the beginning" and you know, you aren't wrong.
Thanks guys for keeping interest in the project.Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun beepComment

Re: The Last Step Pack (Submissions Open)
t-rogdor has graciously stepped in to offer playtesting notes. As such the following changes have been made:
1. All submissions now need to be sent to: [email protected], discord and PMs won't be allowed. Obviously this is to allow rog to access them as well instead of just waiting on me.
2. I would like to request that all submissions be sent as Song name (Simauthor name). For my own sanity.
3. Notes will now be seperated between rog and I. (My original reviews will still be left up as is, but I will not be playtesting anything further unless it's something I can actually play.) I will be throwing them up at the same time though, unless it's a file (as of 2/22/18) that's already submitted. I will be posting all of those notes at once.
All notes that are done, have been added to the second post.
I have not finished reviews yet, and will be working on them tonight, unless my power goes out because of snow.
Also, the second post got an update to make sure everything is as accessible as possible, everything should be really easy to find.
If something has been missed, let me know please.
Thanks a bunch rog, and hopefully we get the ball rolling again.Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun beepComment

Re: The Last Step Pack (Submissions Open)
cool someone reviewed my turd
is it because of the anchor on 3? how would you personally want me to change this pattern?the 16ths into the hands at the beginning are VERY awkward to hit.
which patterns specifically though? (besides the 48th bursts scattered about that are admittedly fucking dumb)This file is fun and has a lot of potential for sure, but it's veeeeeeeeeeerry very cluttered in a way that makes it kinda awkward and weird to hit.
which parts do you feel are overlayered? i think i went a bit overkill on the freeze note section starting at measure 51It gets better after the hold note section for sure, but honestly i think this could use less layering and a bit of overhaul in the patterns department.
f-fineAlso, short or not, that random 48th burst trill isn't fun and should be just a standard burst imo
i don't personally find it hard to hit that pattern thoughComment
