welcome to the minipack series that's getting finished this time
Submissions are open until March 4th, 12am server time. Send your stepmania to [email protected]
Graphics and finalization will occur between March 4th and 5th.
Pack releases on the 6thth. Hopefully.
So after the huge failure of BPM Blitzkrieg, I've decided to sit back and think of a better idea. The concept is still roughly the same, in that I'm going to be looking at charts, rating them 1-10, and releasing the minipack. But I'm not going to ask for a miracle this time. And no more will I have dumb restrictions that arbitrarily stop your chart from making the final cut.
Pack Goal(s)
The main goal of this pack is a competition between players that make charts. I am hoping that the nature of this pack fosters some seriously great charting, in both the dump and non-dump camps. It would also be nice to see some ideas thrown around between players, and I'm sure that up and coming chartists (coining this phrase, fuck you) would benefit greatly from seeing what makes a good chart, dump or otherwise.
But mainly, I want fun, healthy competition.
What I (we're) looking for
I am looking to select the top 5 dumps and top 5 non-dumps to be released as a minipack. These charts will be selected by myself, and will be rated internally based on primarily fun factor. I say primarily because there is still technical skill needed to create a non-dump chart that's intuitive and nice to look at, and there is most certainly personal skill needed to create a dump that plays well and is fun to score on.
The reason I say "we" is that while I would like to run this pack myself, I am going to need help. I am currently looking for two extra judges. I would prefer people who are established chartists, and best case scenario would be one person who makes mostly non-dumps (t-rog, kommisar, icy, etc) and one person who makes mostly dumps (skwid, mina, lofty, etc). I also need someone to help with graphics.
Rules:
1. 4 submission limit per person, 2 dumps as a maximum. The reason for this is that I know I'm going to get dump charts and that people tend to make those more often because they are "easier" to make.
2. Chart must be less than 5 minutes in length. Why? Because I'm going to be looking at all of the charts and playing them. Having shorter charts means that I get through the charts faster, meaning I go through more of them.
3. Only send in cdtitle. If you send in graphics with your chart, they will be removed in order to "normalize" graphics at the end of the submission deadline.
4. Collabs are not allowed.
And that's it, those are your rules. No BPM minimum, difficulty doesn't matter.
Graphics
Graphics will be normalized. The chart with the highest internal rating gets a gold-colored set of graphics, 2 and 3 get silver, 4 and 5 get bronze. Dump graphics get one set of imagery, non-dumps get another. Cdtitles are mandatory; if you don't have one, get one or I will make you a shitty comic sans cdtitle in photoshop with drop shadow and light gaussian blur (don't test me on this, bubs).
Pack Timeline
Assuming that this minipack kicks off, I would like to make this a monthly running series. So the timeline would be 2 weeks for charting, 1 week of finalization, and then release. 1 week of down time before the next minipack kicks off again.
Of course, I fucked up February so that's not gonna happen this month.
So there you have it. Hopefully this idea kicks off, and I've given people plenty of time to chart some stuff, so let's do it bubs.
