    DDream Studio/Stepmania issues

So, I've finished my first simfile in DDReam Studio. Nice. There were 2 problems, though:

    - Even though I set the difficulty of the .sm file in DDReam Studio to "challenge", Stepmania 5 read it as "Novice", for some stupid reason.
    - Stepmania refused to save a .dwi file, even when I executed it as administrator.

I even tried downloading older versions of Stepmania to see if these issues would be solved. They weren't. SM 3.9 said that it had saved a .sm and .dwi, but it didn't.

After a while, I set the difficulty to "Challenge" in Stepmania and saved it (still no .dwi). Now it was properly read as a "Challenge" difficulty file.

The sync was gone, though. Every arrow now started about 1 second later than they were supposed to.

I opened the file again in DDReam Studio to sync it again. So I did, and I saved it again in the Stepmania songs folder. I ran Stepmania again to check the file. It was still read as a Challenge file, but the syncing was STILL off. I opened the same file AGAIN in DDReam Studio to make sure I copied the right file into the folder, and confirmed that it was indeed the same file. The file was perfectly synced in DDReam Studio, now, and was completely off-sync in SM.

Completely puzzled, I tried to see if the syncing would return to normal if I set it to "Novice" in SM again. It didn't return to normal, and DDream still read it as if it were synced.

Now, I've got a file at the wrong difficulty and syncing, and no .dwi file whatsoever. I literally have no idea what I'm supposed to do to get the damn files I need. I'm pissed off and want to destroy everything.

If you're running vista or higher, you shouldn't have sm in your programs or programsxw/e folder. Making changes to sm there don't show up and causes a ruckus like this. Save sm somewhere else. I have mine saved on my external for example.

If you're running SM 5, I don't think it'll make a .dwi file for ya. You have to go to 3.9 for that.

if you've stepped a file in DDReam

make sure to save as (.sm - Stepmania Single BPM) in the options when you save

then bring over the song folder (with .sm and song file in it) over to a song folder in stepmania 3.9 or 3.95, then go into the editor and save it from there to get the .dwi if you need the .dwi to send to ffr

also ddream doesn't like negative offsets so that could be an issue too

alternatively what you could do is send over the .sm/music file to someone here and have them sync it up w/o problems and send it over to the ffr batch for you instead

If you've run SM while you were stepping the song, it'll save a cached copy of the song and that will be the "final" version even if you reload songs/courses, chances are if this happened you still had the song set to novice beforehand, not sure.
You'll probably need to go somewhere like this

hit Windows Key + R (or go to start -> run) and type %appdata% and hit enter. Go to stepmania 5 and do a search under Cache for your sm song and delete that song. Then reload songs/courses or rerun stepmania, the difficulty should be fixed. (if you accidentally did the above, anyway)

Also, is your global offset correct for SM5? That would make it seem offsync - I'm just throwing ideas around that I ran into in the past.

edit: oops it got solved fudhalhhuahlushjdjiejieijieje
