    {Midnight} Minipack

Hi. I’m not the best step artist here by any means; I don’t recall ever claiming to be. I also am sure you all have seen me spurt off nonsense of disliking charts from well known people. But I thought it’s time I tried to get a few of my “best” charts into one place, and to release one, that I’ve been meaning to get to for a while, but finally got around to stepping.

Before we go anywhere, I feel a thanks list is in order for everyone who’s helped me either directly with these charts via judging, be it on Thirdstyle or on Dragon’s Fury or just by judging charts I’ve sent in through batches, or by offering advice on a specific thing (PR as I am stupid at it.) It’s not a ~huge~ pack, but I’d feel like an ass hat without doing this.

In short, here’s a [short] list of people I’d like to thank for various reasons:

And now to why you bothered to open this thread in the first place.

As I mentioned this pack contains some of my best charts. They’re all a little quirky and such, but that’s because I didn’t change them from where ever you’ve all seen them. I don’t think you’ll like them all, or even play them all. I do hope that you at least try one of them.

Song list / Where you can find these elsewhere & Notes

    1. {Midnight} – Cornandbeans – These charts are in fact the ones found on Thirdstyle. When you’re done playing it here, I recommend playing it there if you have not done so.

    2. Before Cynthia – Cat333Pokemon – This chart was used in a DF Custom Tourney. It's a rather difficult chart.

    3. Champion’s Horizon – WillRock – Similar to {Midnight} this chart is also found on Thirdstyle. Please play it there as well.

    4. My Fxxkin Desire For You [V1] – Yuyoyuppe - This chart was in FFR Partyy Vol. 1 pack with several charts. If you’ve played on the Dragon’s Fury custom engine, you may remember this as that hilariously nasty difficulty 48 with the anchors.

    5. S.Y.S.T.E.M. – SHK – You may recognize this tune from Hard Songs Megapack 1 as being stepped by NVLM. Well, that’s because this chart uses the same cut and MP3 file as that chart. This version of the chart is meant to be a more relaxed approach to the song. I went more for fun than anything, though the anchor jacks in the middle might have you think otherwise...

    6. My Fxxkin Desire For You [V2] – Yuyoyuppe – Why include both V1 and V2 you may ask? To give you a perspective of how nasty the original was. This one offers 4 completely redone charts. I want to mention one thing. Oni chart is the original Edit chart from the V1, except it has all the needed fixes from the other V2 charts. The Oni chart’s ending is still extremely nasty, but you don’t have to deal with the mines this time. Those just made it unreasonable. This set of charts is why I made this pack.

    All of that being said…

HUGE TEXT DOWNLOAD LINK YOU CAN'T MISS
I hope you enjoy at least one of these. Because I don't think anyone will enjoy them all.

      Re: {Midnight} Minipack

I can agree. Your song choice could of been better. But I won't make a problem out of it only because the song has been stepped before doesn't mean your chart will be the same.

      Anyway here's some reviews

Before Cynthia - The song choice wasn't phenomenal or unique. I've definitely played a file for this song somewhere before, or at least something like it. Anyway, the file itself felt a bit on the generic side. You could of avoided some sounds, added mines, and possibly a few other changes within the file so it had some kind of "kick" factor. I don't really know how accurate the PR was or anything like that, because I'm not a robot. The file was average IMO.

Champion's Horizon - I only plan on playing heavy for the sake of time. The song choice was unique and honestly a pretty quality remix of a Pokemon song I can't recognize. The file itself has a lot of problems. Your layering is very inconsistent and weird. Some parts you chose to layer everything, some parts nothing is layered. This alone can get distracting and honestly this file would be so much better if you changed some of the parts in order to fit the song better. Your freeze usage was way too extensive and used at the wrong parts. Also don't be afraid to put down minijacks/jacks at this BPM. It won't come out hard or unplayable. Jacks at the right BPM can actually come out pretty fun.

My ****in Desire for You - I played heavy assuming the edit is meant to be the hard chart made for scoring, so tell me if this is the wrong chart. This file overall missed some sounds at some parts, and it didn't have enough variation in patterns to really hold my attention. The mines were a bit overused at points, but I can't really say they were misplaced since you were meaning to make this chart difficult.

My Fxxcin Desire for You - It's basically the song I just played, but with the fixes I mentioned. Weird. It's better and flowed better than the previous version I played. My only issue is that the ending has a HUGE difficulty spike. I couldn't figure out the goal behind this file; was it meant for MA or being really hard? I'm not trying to sound like an ass here, but before making a file you should always consider what type of file it's going to be and what kind of players its going to cater to. It's not always going to be steppers like me playing it. It was fun until the difficulty spike, so good job on that.

System - Song choice was bad, and the entire file is way too repetitive for my tastes. I couldn't really stand the file, and there was some inaccuracies around where you had long jacks on 4 2 and 1. These are actuallly (if 1 2 3 and 4 represent left down up and right arrows) 3 3 24? like a jump, 3 3. Overall this file was way too repetitive, but I honestly blame the song for that.

{Midnight} - 16ths 16ths 16ths 16ths. I wouldn't have a problem with this, but once again it felt way too repetitive. The variations in 16ths didn't change that it felt way too long and dragged out. There wasn't any kind of jumps inbetween or layering to make the file better or more fun. The song choice is bad too.

You should try to pick songs that aren't stepped or have been stepped but only poorly. System was stepped poorly, sure, but it's NVLM. His files were just meant to be hard and kick your ass. The song itself can't really make a good file imo, out of these I liked Champion Horizons the most

Yes Edit was a joke. (Who would seriously use that many mines?) And as mentioned in the notes the Oni chart on V2 was meant to be the V1 with the fixes. The Heavy chart on the V2 is the one I was most happy about, and the one I spent the most time fixing.

As to Champion's Horizon, the layering technique was intended to switch between when there were holds and when there weren't holds. Yes it made it in consistent, but honestly had I gone and layered it consistently it'd have been a very unpleasant file. I was going for this chart to flow more than anything as that's by far my largest pet peeve, and (when stepping it) I had noticed I'd been a mega hypocrite. So I tried to pay attention to it the most over everything.

And thank you for the feedback. That's one of the biggest reason I made this.

Also @ the Midnight chart: Yeah uh, I guess it really shows how static I can get with my charting x.x'

Though I thought I'd had a small range of songs. I mean we have a classical piece, a game remix, 2 (of the same song but either way) "Metal" songs a trace song and more of a dance song. But I'll keep that in mind for the future.

I've said things bluntly, it'd be stupid if I couldn't take them doing the same. Doesn't phase me. Plus it's queef so his opinion doesn't mean jack crap anyways.

Epilogue isn't in here because I was unsure of the rules with putting FFR charts into SM packs as the exact same.
