It's often been said that a 16th stream is a lot easier to hit than an equivalent speed 32nd stream, and I think I know why:
It's the brightness of the notes.
When you're playing a 16th stream the notes go dark - light - dark - light - dark since yellows are bright as fuc. So you can zone out and use a heuristic of 'alternate light and dark'.
When you're playing a 32nd stream the orange notes are kind of in the middle brightness-wise so you can't do this anymore - but if you made orange darker than R/B/Y you could again follow the heuristic and it should be about as easy.
For similar reasons, purple should be dark and pink bright and cyan probably dark.
Any thoughts? What other factors go into making noteskins easier/harder to read? It's obvious that orbular is more readable than block, but what about orbular vs note vs cel?
