    Solo Difficulty System?

With people making a lot of solo charts as of late--I feel that there is a need to come up with one rating system to avoid confusion as to what people are playing?

Over at KBO--you have a pop'n music (or close to) rating system, but when you look at SG's solo files, they use dark chancellor ratings (out of 10). Recently also, I played Xiao's Death Moon chart (perfect example for the reason why I bring this thread up), and it's rated a 29 (pop'n/KBO rating?). Other songs/packs like the Xiao Beginner Packs have a rating system that just goes up to 15 (or slightly higher, there's no real defined threshold). I think it's time to decide what the universal rating system should be since there's a mass of ratings that judge the file's difficulty differently.

    Re: Solo Difficulty System?

I've been wondering this myself. Like seriously.
Also why the hell would you make the "beginner" file harder than like the heavy file. (Almost There anyone?)
    Makes no sense.

cause edit does not work for some people and they already have a heavy & oni chart

      FMO AAA Count: 71
      FGO AAA Count: 10

If the file is difficult but super straight forward, he has issues. If he's AAAing a FGO but then heard that his favorite Hockey team was losing by a point, Hockey > FFR
      PS: Cool AAA's Terry

Also there's the fact that if you have a Heavy chart as a main but an alternative overlayered scoring chart, it's better to leave it on Beginner, so it won't be mistaken as the main chart. And it's also a good way for getting people to play both charts rather than just one (examples: Scarlet in the Dream, Cinnamon Roll, Anti the Holic, etc.)

          Re: Solo Difficulty System?

My Death Moon chart was rated a 29 'cause it's a direct convert of the O2 chart, which is (wait for it...) a level 29 chart. There's no reason other than that for it being a 29. XSBP scale is 1-3 for easy, 4-6 for normal, 7-9 for heavy, 10-15 for oni. It's all relative though and only works because there are a small amount of files.

O2 ratings work very very well up to lv40 (after which everything is an incoherent dump), similar to Pop'n. At first I was hesitant about this kind of scale, but after playing O2 it does feel a lot more accurate. Files can be difficult on solo for far more reasons than singles can (jacks, rtrills, brackets, 1 hand bias etc etc).

I'd nominate anything in intervals of 10 between 20-50.

I agree. A 40 to 50 point system is perfect. I just wanted to address this because it's hard to see what's easy and what's not. =/

                  Re: Solo Difficulty System?

It's dumb and obsolete because avoiding 1-10 makes no sense since you're stepping for a keyboard community.

                    Re: Solo Difficulty System?

but 1-10 screws up machine score and the community is butthurt and conscious about it

But then using only 10-15 makes your system 5 levels long...which means it's the same issue as the 1-10 system with 5 less levels.
