Copyright Issues?

So I finally got my first version of a stepfile I've been working on. Only problem is that it's Gorillaz - Sound Check (Gravity). Now should I go ahead and release it? Or do I have to worry about being sued? I highly doubt Virgin Records scours FFR and SM for copyright infringements, but I'm curious if this is wrong.

Yes I do realize the irony in that I can't AAA my own song. Laugh it up.

you can release it for SM with no worries. as for FFR, yeah, youll need permission

you don't need permission to put it in the simfile database. you'll only need permission if you want to put it in ffr the game. go ahead and release the file, you aren't going to get sued for it.

Oh good lol. I was worried for a second. I think I'll wait to release it on the SM forums until I've made more of a name for myself. I'm still a n00b here and there really. Now to work on my next project. Hopefully I can put this one in FFR too, if the artist e-mails me back.

You can always have people test it, you know. Since you're new, it would probably be a good idea to get some constructive criticism.

Also, if you want to submit something to FFR and are wondering what we have permission for, here is a list, apparently updated the 9th of February.

Ya that's a good idea. I'll probably do a test first. I'm a little apprehensive about letting anyone play it then tell me how much it sucked lol. I was hoping the song I wanted to do next was on that list, but I didn't see the artist .

Also, I guess I'm not new here. But I defiantly am to SM. Just started a week ago :P
