Stepfile vanished. Need help!

So i've been working on a song in stepmania for about a week now and i'm finished with it. I don't know what happened to it, but when i open the folder with the song in it, the wallpaper, banner, and all those number things in the dwi. file that represent the notes vanished.

When i opened stepmania to checked if it's still there, it was. The banner, wallpaper, and everything that it used to have was still there in "my creation" genre. I turned the file into a zip file and unzip it in another genre and no notes, no wallpaper, nor banner. Everything is gone and what can i do to fix it? reward is 1000 cred.

Same thing happened to me. Unfortunately, you can't fix this problem without deleting your stepfile, and possibly some other temporary files you have on your comp(I lost my cod4 profile). I hate vista. If you want to fix it, turn off your user account control. Go to user settings or something, then at the bottom it says user account control, and you turn that off. It's risky though, because then you might lose some important files.

its not entirely vista's fault; it's happened on my old xp computer before. plus ive never had that happenduring my entire year+ with vista, sooo ya

but anyway, there's no way you can retrieve it unless you have .old files, but it doesn't look like you have them sorrry bout dat

Try this (Not sure if it'll work though but try it anyways)

Go into your StepMania program files folder and under your address bar beside "Organize" and "Views", you'll see "Compatibility Files". Click it and you'll be redirected to another location in the SM folder. If you see a Songs folder, go into it and you should find the folder where you keep your Stepfile creations. Go into it and you might find the exact same stepfile folder. Go into that and you should find your missing files there.

Copy and paste the items back into the original location of the stepfile in your SM Songs folder and you're done.

Let me know if that worked.

I just noticed that in your screenshot you already have "Compatibility files" right there. Click that and it should redirect you to the missing files. Cut and paste the files back to the original folder.

Oh nice. Glad to be of service.

Been using Vista for like 2 years so I know some stuff about how it operates. I'm not exactly sure what the hell the point of the Compatibility Files section is in Vista but whatever.
