    Setting Offset

I was wondering if it is safe to set the offset by slowing down the song to make it easier to set.

Generally when I try this on a song then play it, I hit the arrows a little late.

I know some alterations to music can alter the offset (I have to change the offset by -.04 whenever I swap out a song with a version I've fiddled with), I wasn't sure if changing the speed at which it played was one of them.

Another thing is that I have the In the Groove files, which are professionally made (right?), and I opened a couple in the editor and the offset does not line up with the notes when you slow the song down to .5x. Instead, the music comes a little bit before the notes (just like when I do my files). I have no trouble playing those In the Groove files, and think they are synced perfectly (yay Queen of Light).

Hmm, that wasn't very cohesive. Hopefully it was understandable though.

When I do files, I usually set the offbeat to -0.50
          It's pretty easy to use.

Well it is completely based on the individual song so that doesn't make any sense.

Also it is a good idea to slow it down to find the gap.

yea unless they are talking about global offset

Typically when talking about a pack/group of files, it is the global offset (unless a particular file is off.).

Don't attempt to sync your song while the song is slowed down, the song does end up a little bit later synced; I've learned that by experience with a LOT of pad files.

Hmmm... anyone else care to voice an opinion? Cause it doesn't look like there is a consensus.

                    Re: Setting Offset

I sync it normally, then adjust with my keystrokes. May not work for you. My MA is decent enough that this works, but this might end up being a bit off for you.
Why would you put that in your signature? You've lost your signature rights for a month. (You'll get them back on March 10th, 2012.)
