Rolls. I hear about them. There supposed to crash stepmania. What are they?

A special kind of hold where you have to repeatedly press a button. I believe they were introduced in ITG2 but I may be wrong.

Oh ok I remember those but I dont even know how to add them.
Edit cant be those because people talk about adding them in ffr

I think you have to have an ITG2 theme or use ITG PC to get them...
So, you shouldn't have to worry about them.

EDIT: I just remembered.. I think there is a way to do it..... Is it ctrl+button+scroll down?

EDIT2: Are you sure they're not talking about the "roll" pattern? Or are you referring to people saying not to submit files with "rolls" (holds) to FFR?

Rolls have to be hit every 0.3 seconds or sooner or they drop; they're like freezes but only responding to taps not being held, basically.
(If you're not sure, 0.3 seconds is the bpm of your favourite dragonforce song)

Around 1:05 the long roll comes in, too lazy to look for a picture.

It's actually kind of cool to make a pattern like 1213121413121314, and replace the whole left side with a roll, give's you the option to hit 8th note jumps or to actually hit it as a 16th run, naturally people would hit it as a 16th run though.

I just mash the roll as fast as I can while doing the other arrows. It's the best option, right?

My rolling is never in sync with the BPM of the song. =)

These are rolls:



They are somewhat like holds, but instead of holding them you tap them repeatedly until the roll is finished.

They can only work for SM 3.95 or higher, but if you play files with these in 3.9, it will crash the game. Also, you can implement them with 3.95 or higher in edit mode. Same keys to add a hold, but you must also hold the Ctrl button as well.

Rolls also look like freezes in SM 4.0 but blue??
I'm not sure if thats correct but i've seen it in a video on youtube one time.
That or sumthin, i dunno.

They go with the same color with the arrow I think. I seen one that it was blue also on youtube.
