Double / Couple?

What are these modes of play? My friend smacked some steps into a "Double" stepfile, but I can't find any way to actually access them in the game to play them.

Also, what's the difference? Don't they both use 8 arrows? I'm assuming they're both modes of two player... maybe Couple is cooperative and Double isn't? I dunno.

Double involves two people sharing the steps in a song, basically a symbiotic way of playing. Couple is when two people each play a chart, separate or no, on a song. I know you press some kind of key to activate two player, but I'm not sure how (though my sister once did it by accident, lol). This is normally only possible on pad, but a little bit of skilled keymapping can make it possible for two keyboards as well (such as if one person plays one handed and the other askl/zx,. spread).

Wrong. Double is one person, two pads/inputs of four.

Couples dates back to the earlier mixes of DDR - two people share one (in DDR, maybe in SM it's two) chart. I don't know how SM couples works, but for couples charts, most people just use a doubles chart and make it as if two singles charts were working together.

Okay, I figured out how to activate it... 2 player has to press 2 player's assigned "start" button while on the style select screen. Then Single and Solo will disappear, and the other options will be selectable.

Double is for one person? That's demented.
