    Help Me With Stepmania Editor!

    I have done a couple of sim files, but some of them doesn't end after the last arrows. What I have to do to make the song end? This is very weird...

    Re: Help Me With Stepmania Editor!

    Some simfiles will save with extra measures at the end. Open the file in Notepad, and check each difficulty, and delete extra measures. If they're there, they'll be at the end of a stepchart, and look like:

    0000
    0000
    0000
    0000
    , <--end of blank measure
    0000
    0000
    0000
    0000
    ; <--end of song

    <-- denotes my comments, you won't see those in the file.

    Double-check that there's only 0s in the rows you're deleting, and delete whole groups (separated by commas), NOT single rows.
    Make sure they're deleted on all difficulties; I think if one difficulty ends on a measure after another difficulty, Stepmania will always end on whichever has the latest measure.
    EX: Light ends on M50, Standard ends on M55, and Heavy ends on M56. When actually playing, Stepmania will end the song on M56, no matter the difficulty.

      Re: Thank you for your reply!

      Thank you for your reply, but I have only one difficulty in the simfile and the last mark in it is ;

      But when I compared two simfiles to each other I realized that the one, which works correctly, has more 0's before the end of the simfile. So I added more 0's in the other simfile and now it works correctly!

      I hope, that this helps other to do Simfiles...

        adding extra measures fixed the file what?

        I'm actually quite confused now.

        EDIT: I am officially baffled. I now have no idea what causes songs to end late. Adding zeroes to the end of a file just doesn't work. Hmm...

          Re: Explanation...

          Well.. I added more 0's IN the last measure.

          First the end of the simfile looked like this:

          , // measure 82
          0000
          1003
          0000
          0000
          ;

          But I added more 0's in the end and now it looks like this:

          , // measure 82
          0000
          1003
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          0000
          ;

          And now it works correctly. I don't know why...

              That changes the structure of your simfile. You now have 24 rows of 0s when you first had 4. That means the quarter (1/4) notes in your original measure turned into 24ths (1/24). Get rid of those extra zeroes and resave. It shouldn't happen again. If it does, do what kommisar said and switch it into a brand new folder.

                  No they're really not.

If there are 12 notes rows in a measure, each note will be treated as a triplet (1/12th) note. Measures are separated by a comma.

                  Example:

                  // measure 1
                  2010
                  0000
                  0100
                  0000
                  : // measure 2
                  0001
                  0100
                  0001
                  0000
                  3010
                  0000
                  0000
                  0000
                  ;
                  Shrink it down to 4 rows again, or fix it in the SM Editor. If you look in the editor, that tap note in the last measure would appear purple, as a 1/12th (2/24ths) note would. Reverting back to what you had before will return that measure back to normal.
                  Anyways, I'd really like to know what causes the problem in the first place. Maybe I'll search/post on the Stepmania message boards. I always thought it was extra measures of 0s, but I'm not so sure anymore.
