Stepmania BG question

Okay let me get straight to the point.
So how in the world do you set an AVI video as
your background in stepmania?
I've tried somethings but my background ended up black.

So I thought i'd ask FFR.

Put you AVI video in your song folder and name it anything since it doesn't require an extension like "avi-bg"

Next load up Stepmania and go inside the editor. Press "b" then go to add change to song movie. Select the name of the AVI file and press enter. Note that this will apply to the measure you're on. That's about it, save it and you're set.

Well that's all my knowledge, maybe it's the video itself? I noticed if a video is either corrupt in its stream or something, Stepmania will not play it.

Either way, care to let us know which version of Stepmania you're using.

Really, the SM Editor method should work, but if all else fails, try editing the .sm file. Open in notepad, look for #BGCHANGES and copy/paste/edit this line over it:
#BGCHANGES:0.000=vid name.avi=1.000=1=0=0;

0.000 <-- put the beat you want here. Fractional value, so 1.25 would be one beat + one sixteenth down. Negative values are allowed.
vid name.avi <-- self explanatory
The Rest <-- I wouldn't worry about those, unless you want to change the default settings of how the video is played. It's in the order of "rate=fade=rewind=loop". If you want to know how to work those I can tell you, or you can leave it as above (100% speed and fade in).

Separate multiple changes with commas.

Remember to reload songs/courses in the options menu. If it still doesn't work, check to make sure you have the proper codec to play the video (usually DivX, according to the readme).
