How do you turn them off? Or change it so that it doesn't wail some dull "toasty" at my 250th combo, which makes me get a frikin perfect or great?

turn off easter eggs if i remember right

or do what i did and just delete the damned thing from the theme folder xD

Just disable "Easter Eggs" in the main options. I believe it turns them off.

Are there alternative toasties? I've heard of a Shana-tan one, but I can't find it. As long as it sounds good, I don't mind it (unless if it lags me).

I think the sound/image can be changed by editing the files in

.../StepMania/Themes/default/BGAnimations/ScreenGameplay toasty

Just play with them on, you get used to them after a while. Then when you don't get one, you know something is wrong. At least that is my take on them. Most people probably play with them off just because they can be a nuisance. Then again, I love to play with mines and stuff so who knows...

I play with it on because it doesn't affect me at all and is a notification on whether or not I hit a great or something.

Haha, I just edited my toasty image today.

Went from the defaulted image to this:

This'll take some getting used to. It's slightly larger than the defaulted image too so I'll resize it another time.
