need help with SM 4

so i downloaded SM 4 today and im kind of pissed right now. the noteskins that come with it are horrible so i download the note arrows from stepmaniathings.com. When i try to play, the noteskins are super gay and i cant see the targets and all the arrows get but in half or something like that. if anybody has had problems with this and knows how to fix this, if you could tell me that would be awesome
