How do I make Stepmania handle graphics better

I have quite a **** computer and it doesn't really like Stepmania, it runs normally half the time but the other half of the time it starts jumping, I have a three questions:

1. Is there a way to take out backgrounds on tracks without deleting anything in the Stepmania folder
2. Is there a way to shorten the loading screen?
3. What do the last speed [things] mean? Like C300 and C600
4. Why?

0% brightness, although that shouldn't really speed it up.

2. Is there a way to shorten the loading screen?

Make it load faster? Stepmania defaults on quick load, and I don't think there's anything quicker than that.

3. What do the last speed [things] mean? Like C300 and C600

CMods are constant mods that disregard the bpm of the song and plays at a constant scroll rate.

4. Why?

If you want Stepmania to play better, then decrease resolutions and such in the graphics options.

Won't 0% brightness make everything black?

Also, those CMods might help with 'Otherworld' (Final Fantasy X)
