Go to options-->key configuration, set your controls (in your case, w/a/s/d).

Then start the game. When it shows the screen with "single, solo, versus, double," press Player2's enter key (or whatever button you set "enter" on). This will allow versus and double mode. I hope I answered your question. I apologize if you already know this. =P

Yeah, I actually didn't know how to do this either, I was setting the keys, but the player 2 button wasn't disabled.

I just looked on http://www.stepmania.com and found everything out.
