Connecting USB Pads to work with SM

OK, here is the deal. I plug in the pad (Red Octane Ignition 3.0) and go to control panel. I go to game controllers and go to properties for the pad. I test the pad, works normal. But on the bottom where it shows the button numbers (1-10), number 9 is flashing (Start button). I ignore this for now. When I go to configure the pad on SM, I press enter on the keyboard (to configure the START button) and automatically it says "Joy1 9". When I press Esc I go into an endless stream of Starts until I pull the USB out of the port.

    What's wrong?

And what does the flashing 9 mean on control panel?

Your "Start" button is stuck down, it may be a physical problem. Is your pad a metal pad, a foam, or a plastic?
