BG, Black

When i watch SM vids i notice most people have pure black background's which would elude the some gay backgrounds, i have SM 3.9 when i upload songs i don't load the jpg images or banners or whatever would be considered an image and i still don't get a black BG

do i have to download something from SM.com?

Sometimes in SM 4.0, the backgrounds fade into black, I think its a setting, but I don't use that anymore.

Go here: C:\Program Files\StepMania\Themes\"Whatever theme you have"\Graphics
and change the picture named "Common fallback background" to a big black square. I think that will do what you want it to do.

You could do that. Or what you can do is go to Options -> Background Options -> Set Brightness to 0%. Then when normal gameplay starts, *voila!* black background!
