    Fullscreen problems

I already posted this on the stepmania site...but there isnt too much activity going on there so I think i can get a faster response here.

I downloaded SM 4.0 the latest one, and wanted to play it in windowed mode. I read about alt+enter and graphic options and neither of them worked. I also read about changing the .ini file of window to 1. Well I did that and every time I tried to load it up it crashed.

So I thought whatever, i'll just go to 3.9, no big deal. I downloaded it, installed, and I tried the alt+enter first. and it pops up with a message saying "Fullscreen 512x389 16 color 16 texture 0Hz Vsync NoAAA" I dont know if this has any relevancy but i thought id post it anyways. I tried the graphic options setting to no avail. When I tried altering the .ini it looks like its going to go to window mode but it goes into fullscreen instead. I check back at the .ini and it reverted itself back to 0. Yes im sure i saved the file after altering it, i did it about 3 times now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Re: Fullscreen problems

I have kind of the same problem. I have 3.9 and I've been wondering about a windowed mode, since I still want to do other things, like take ss's and save them in paint quickly, and not wait to start the whole thing up again.

Bump post to get answer: is there a way to play sm window'd and how.

        Re: Fullscreen problems

Yes there is and a lot of them are detailed in my post... (not sure if these work, but its just what ive read)

        **In game**
        Method 1: Press Alt+enter

Method 2: Go to options -> Graphic options -> Change the display mode from full screen to windowed

        **Not in game**
Method 3: Go to the Stepmania tools and package exporter, (Start -> all programs -> stepmania) and click "open stepmania .ini" then in the text file scroll down to where it says windowed and change 0 to 1 so it should say "windowed=1" Be sure you save after you edit the file

Once again, im not sure if any of these methods work cause none of them work for me. Maybe you can report back if any of these worked for you or not

          the alt+enter works for me.

Edit: wait, no it doesn't when i try to play it says its missing something.
Edit2: , wait it does, i just have extra cmods added, an they show up as blanks, that's why.

              Re: Fullscreen problems

My game lets me play in windowed mode if I switch the option in the options menu with no problem, though I don't play that way. I'm also running StepMania 3.9rc, which I believe is (or at least was, it's been a while) available for download off the StepMania website.

Considering you've already altered your ".ini" file, the only thing I would suggest would be to uninstall and delete it from your computer, then reinstall using version 3.9rc, assuming it is on their website like I think it is, and go from there. If that doesn't work, then the problem is outside my expertise!

              Hope it works for you.

Edit: I checked their website. I don't know if the version they have available is 3.9rc, but it just says 3.9. As far as I know, this version doesn't have any problems.
