What settings do you use for the judge and life meter when playing keyboards? I just use the default wich is 4 but I've heard that most people use 3.

No, most people use 4/4, as that is what is considered "correct". Anything lower on either judge or life is seen as trying to cheat, unless you state what your judge / life is, and even then people take you less seriously if you play at lower than 4/4. -

Don't play on lower than 4. It's cheating and easier.
