I play on the keyboard, but the game doesn't let you press 3 or 4 steps at a time. Is there a patch or option I need or something?

Reassign your keys. Change it to numpad or something.

SOLUTION
Go into the mod menu before playing a song, select 'No Hands'
The steps will play with all hands (triple and quad presses) removed for you.Patashu makes Chiptunes in Famitracker:

go to test input and press 3- and 4-arrow button combinations until you find a setup that works

No it doesn't. It has nothing to do with the computer at all. It has to do with whatever keyboard you have.
If you are trying to say all keyboards that come with Macs can't register hands and quads, then you are incorrect. A lot of the newer ones do.
Anyway, to the real problem. The problem is your keyboard can't register the 3/4 keys being pressed at the same time.
You can either change your setup to play with other keys that can, or you can buy a new better keyboard.
