    SMO

Ok, so I want to play SMO, but on the SMO website it says to get it you just have to download SM 4.0. I have SM 3.9 and don't want to replace it with 4.0.

Is there no way I can get an older version of SMO that is stand-alone and can be played while still keeping 3.9? Or is there any way I can download 4.0 but not replace 3.9 with it?

    Re: SMO

If you can find the right folder on smo.com they host old builds, but I don't remember what it is. =/

    However:

If your SM 3.9 isn't CVS you can install them simultaneously (I just did). Then just go to My Documents -> Stepmania CVS -> Save -> Preferences.ini and change AdditionalSongFolders= to your SM 3.9 song folder.
    hehe

Yeah. I had them installed simultaneously for a really long time until I accidentally uninstalled rc3. (Don't ask. X.x)

Then coerce the thing from the dohicky and navigate the whatsitcalled into the other thing.

I have them both now, but there is no folder in my documents called Stepmania CVS.

EDIT: Wait, so I need to copy my 3.9 song folder over to 4.0 to have them for SMO? But that means I'll be using up another 4gb of harddrive space, I don't want that, is there no way I can just tell SM4.0 that the songs are all located at a different location?

EDIT: Found it, re-directing now, cheers Tora.

EDIT: "AdditionalSongFolders" cannot be found, yay.

EDIFY: Found it, this is gay haha.

                  FINAL EDIT:

This is gay, first of all, for some strange reason C611 is far too slow on 4.0 and so I need to play at C711 for any sort of accuracy, even then, it seems like this has a different timing window as my accuracy is ****ed up on it. Seriously:

                  gay

                  gay

                  gay

I lied about final edit. Basically, unless I can have the ingame settings of 3.9 (graphics/noteskin/timing etc) then I don't want to play SMO. I just went and, in 3.9, AAA'd Quasar (49 perf), AAA'd VoH (61 perf) and AAA'd V3 (50 perf) all first attempt. I also can't get over 80 mil on Reality in 4.0 yet 1st attempt got 83 mil in 3.9.

Is there any way to play SMO with the settings of 3.9? A theme, or copying certain folders and files or something?

                    Re: SMO

Yeah, the timing was the first thing I noticed when I started using 4.0

I'm like "omgwtf new timing window, that's homosexually abused"

                      Re: SMO

I don't like it. It's horrible getting greats on a song that you are used to AAA'ing with your eyes closed.

So like I asked, any way to change this so I can have 3.9's settings in the ingame part of 4.0? I don't mind keeping everything else so long as I can have 3.9 when actually playing.

Man, how can I go from 49 perf AAA to 68/2, 61 perf AAA to 62/4. It's not like I can fluctuate that much.

So, Tora, with you saying your speed has gone for a bit, imagine having your MA go too, it would be pretty destroying to your confidence haha.

Check the .ini, I'm pretty sure fluctuations are due to the theme or something.
