    Stepmania FPS Problem

    Brand new Laptop, Asus A8jm. Should be able to run Stepmania no problem.
    Downloaded Stepmania 3.9, and right off the bat, i'm getting 30 FPS. Changed all the graphic options to minimum, and still no change, a steady 30FPS, where as my 2.4celeron desktop with a Geforce2 Mx5200 runs it at 150FPS. Gameplay is terribly choppy, worse so than when I was running Fraps and playing SM at the same time on my desktop. Nothing in the FAQ at Stepmania.com. Did I just get a bad version or something? Please help.

      Well, I just checked the specs out, you are right. It should be able to run it fine. I really have no clue on this one, I suppose you could put it in window mode, and see if the refresh rate was affecting it.

          Check so that the game is running with direct3d and not openGL, also check if vsync is on or off.

          edit: wow i feel so awsome bumping a 2 year old thread. Atleast i hope someone gets something out of it. :3

              considering it's new, do you have the most recent drivers?

                          Wow, how random that I just happened to pop in and check these forums for a problem I'm currently having with SM.. way to go guys, you were kind of late.

                          It was a battery issue with the laptop BTW, there was a specific graphics setting while i was running on battery that lowered the FPS of EVERYTHING.. hehe.
