I've played while absolutely pissed and hardly able to see the screen yes. It's not really that fun, I'd much rather just be drinking more or going out or something.

Playing with "drunk" is even more gay.

The idea is.. you go out on a night out, have a few, come back home with nothing else to do than play SM. Not sitting in all night drinking on your own playing with yourself :/
