How do you get the characters on the background on SM?

Download them from a site and extract them into the Characters folder.

I think IAAW had a pretty good cache.

Just download the files for the characters you want and put them into StepMania's 'Characters' folder. The next time you play, you should be able to use them. You can download character files from:

http://www.stepmaniathings.com

The problem with that ^^^
is that most of the characters there are missing an important file, and it's a hassle to find.

Also, to get characters to turn on...

1) Go to the Options menu from the main menu.
2) Go to the Background option.
3) Switch Characters from Default to Off to Default to Select Character.
4) Done.

you get characters then go into the options then go to background option it should be in there like dancing characters or somthing

Can you relink the character file? It has expired... and I can't find any other ones that work so far (the stepmaniathings.com characters failed xD wont even load)
