Characters

I just downloaded and installed Stepmania today, and I have downloaded some characters.

I extracted all the files into the Characters folder.

But when I run the game and start to play a song, the game shuts down after the "1st Stage" part. It then shows this message:

"The redirect 'Characters/Yuni/Rest/Rest.redir' references a file 'Characters/_DDRPC_common_Rest.bones.txt' which doesn't exist."

Could someone please help me?

well i know this either you didnt put the files in the wrong location or the character you were playing didnt have all the neccessary files in its folder have you tried using diffrent characters?

Well, all the characters that have this problem have a file called Rest.redir in their 'Rest' folder.

But one that worked had a text file named Rest instead of the Rest.redir.

i dont know maybe the files were incomplete try downloading diffrent ones

Did u download them from stepmania?

If u did, the characters would automatically be placed in the characters folder so dont touch them.

You need to find the "bones.txt" file. For some reason it's disgustingly hard to find as of late, so I wouldn't bother. It's not worth the effort.

Meh I have working characters... I can put them in a .zip file and linkage it to you if you want... >_>

I didn't find any way to download Stepmania Characters from stepmania.com, all I saw was songs, themes, announcers, and backgrounds. So I downloaded them from stepmaniathings.com.

IAAW, that'd be awesome. Could you please do that?

Yuni is in there too, so you shouldn't have any problems. The only problem you should have is with the character Smiley, but that should be all the problems you will have.
