    Getting Started

Ok I have stepmania, but I haven't used it in months as I only really play FFR, but I've noticed recently that although I'm getting better, my speed is still horrible, and I want to improve it, and I guess I should start by playing stepmania files, as there are more of those.

To give you an idea of my level, I can AAA a right few songs on FFR, the hardest being probably Libertine or Snowflakes etc. I can almost FC CIA Rave and Rondo Alla Turca V2, and can FC Hanabi.

So, with that in mind, can someone give me some step files to go get and play on, I just want something around that level or harder to work up towards, and something that will help with speed.

Also, I see all these C'mods, do I need to download mods to add these speeds to files, or do certain files have these certain speeds pre-put on them and you just decide?

      Umm I followed the Cmods thread and am now getting this;

Theme metric 'OptionNames : C750' could not be found in 'Themes/default/metrics.ini' or 'Themes/default/metrics.ini'.

        1: Go to www.stepmania.com
2: Click Forums, and click DDRManiaX
3: Click the link that says DDRManiaX.net to get to the main forum page
4: Go into the Tutorials forum
5: Go to -Custom Speed Mods For Idiots-
6: Proceed to follow instructions NOTE: If you use a custom theme, be sure that you edit the stuff that is in that theme, not in the default one.

          RE: Getting Started

Nope, using default theme for now, and I got it sort of working, but it only shows a certain amount of mods (that are scrollable through), it only shows 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x, 8x, c200, c400, c600.

It won't show c700 or c750, though that may be a blessing right now.

Now I just need to get easier files than rain of a thousand flames, quasar and I am Maid, I am nowhere near good enough for those.

          I need intermediate tracks.

Actually, the mods only go up to 11, no matter how much you want more speed mods. For intermediate tracks, just look around. Surely you will find some easy simfiles that are labeled heavy. I think I have some easy ones if you would like them.

Yeah please that'd be grand, what you need, hotmail, or just use megaupload or yousendit or something?

All I need to do is just put em in a zip file and put them on rapidshare or something. I'll edit this post when I'm done.

Ok, wrong wrong wrong wrong WRONG!

First, you can have as many speed mods as you want. You just have to change the first line that tells how many mods you have in total.

You are getting that error message because you don't have the mod defined in the language ini.

Keep reading the thread on speed mods and Spectere explains how to fix this.

Also, the zip file is done and is uploading onto rapidshare, just so you know...

I am not getting the error message anymore, my problem was it only showed a certain amount of mods, but now you tell me how to change that I'll change it.

Stepmania is different to FFR quite a bit, the error margin on arrows is awkward so far, but must just be because I'm used to FFR.

It's RapidShare, so scroll down and click the "Free" button. Also, you may have to make folders for the respective simfiles depending on how well the unzip goes.

Umm yeah, click on free, click on download..wait, put in code, code doesn't work, repeat process, still no files.

Damn thing, but I got a pile of random files, and the F5 pack. So that'll do for now, but I'll keep trying to get this file thanks man.

I'll see if I can find another hosting service that will host it. I think the problem was while I was uploading it to RapidShare, my internet went all screwy and everything. So I had to restart the upload. So there's probably a problem with the file. Also, see if you can download winzip if you don't already have it.

I have winzip, and winrar, so don't worry about that.
