Backgrounds (Not Animated)

Hey I downloaded Stepmania and I've made a few songs for it. I tried reading a few explanations on how to make backgrounds elsewhere, but I don't really understand them.

The background I want though isn't animated. It's just a still picture. Can anybody tell me in more simple terms how I could make this?

The image should be 640x480 pixels, put the picture in your song folder and reload. The image will then be set as the background.

what if I want to make a movie though? Could somebody please explain that to me in simple terms too?
