    Dear SM Step Editor: WTF?

Here's an interesting problem I had today.

I was editing steps to a song this morning because I had this sudden urge to write a nice, keyboard-difficulty file. Write write write, gap gap gap, things are going really smoothly. Unfortunately, that always spells doom.

I save my file, maybe halfway complete (likely less), and head over to Dance mode. On a whim, I try to peek at its stats, using the ITG2esque Beta60 theme. Instead of normal numbers, here's what I get...

    Steps ?
    Jumps ?
    Mines ?
    Hands ?

Gee, thanks, Stepmania. You've replaced my nice difficult 11 with a THREE STEP FILE on light. Three. One long freeze arrow, a random tap, and another long freeze arrow. The BPM changes are still there, the gap is still correct.

I even went back and checked the .dwi and .sm files; they still held my Challenge steps intact. I even looked at the .dwi.old and .sm.old files; THOSE still had Challenge steps. NOWHERE did I see these random crap light steps sitting around, and yet Stepmania somehow crapped them out instead of my steps. What the heck? I even tried restarting SM a couple times, changing themes, nothing worked. So after I try restarting Compy here and seeing if that works, I'd like to know if any of the rest of you have a clue as to what's going on here.

    All help is greatly appreciated.

Put it in a different folder and reload SM's songs. Also, stop using some random ITG theme. That might be messing it up.

Can't you also just go into options and say reload all the songs? That doesn't always work, though, so yeah, do what Moogy says!
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

The only problem with this was, I tried it in 2 other themes (default and Foonmod 2) and I till got the same stepfile. I haen't tried just moving folders yet; I'll see how that goes over in a minute.

        EDIT

Tried moving the song and sm+dwi files to a different folder and restarting Stepmania (and my computer), and it didn't work. Any other suggestions?

Another update :: I gave the file to my friend who is using rc2 to see if it's just a problem with this release, and he got the same incorrect steps that I did. WEeeeeeeeird. I have no clue why these files aren't working.
