Marvelous timing

Ok, I played a lot without marvelouses, and I get much less frustrated during a song, I AAA'd a whole lot of stuff I never could before.

So far the reason of my question: Could there be any way to show, whenever I'm playing a song with marvelous on, a "perfect" everytime I'm getting marvelous, so it's basically like I'm playing without them, but as the result screen appears, I get a normal screen ?

That way I could concentrate better and the number of marvelous would be some sort of "surprise" when seeing the result screen. No frustration halfway anymore ^^

Off course I looked in the .ini file myself before asking this, and tried some things, but I'm not very good at that stuff :/ Any help would be welcome.

You could change the image for "marvelous" to "perfect" by editing the images for the timings in photoshop. Basically, you would have two identical images for different timings. I'm not at a computer with StepMania right now, so if you're not sure what I'm talking about, let me know and I'll find out exactly what image needs to be changed.

Yea, thats what I was trying to so, by changing the path to the marvelous image with the path to the perfect one. But I could also change the images manually, basically the same thing.

But, I checked all the bmp files in the graphics folder, and also the other ones. I found a lot of stuff, but no marvelous images ><

EDIT: ok, i found the picture. But it contains all the words

in 1 file. I tried to edit it with paint but it totally fucked up :s

I understand what you're trying to say, but if there is an image file for marvelous that you can edit, then I don't see why not. Just make the marvelous say perfect instead, like edit the picture.

Just take the image that says marvelous.
Remember it's filename.
Delete it.
Copy & paste the "perfect" image.
Rename the "'perfect' copy" as the filename that the marvelous WAS.
That'll do it fine...

Here's an example(I never accually looked, so these won't be right, but it's the idea that counts!):
I look in C:\Program Files\StepMania\Data\Other\
Find Marvelous.bmp
Delete Mervelous.bmp
Right-Click Perfect.bmp
Choose Copy
Right click on nothing
Choose Paste
Rename PerectCOPY.bmp to Marvelous.bmp


Got it? That should work just fine if you found where the imaegs are...

Thanks to all people that helped me so far

And yes, the picture above is the only thing you have. I tried to cut out perfect, copy it, and paste it over the marvelous (in paint) BUT, you can't just fuck around with it without screwing up :/

Also, when you open this in paint, you get this blue - brown - purple background, which isn't there when I open it in a read-only program. So therefore, when I edit in paint and save it, it shows the backgrounds in game too. And that looks very retarded

I'll look into it again. The thing is, if you don't reload StepMania after making some sort of image or format change of some type, it won't work (I'm talking about reload songs/courses). This happened when I converted all my .bmp files to .png and my .wav files to .mp3. After I reloaded the songs within the program, they worked fine. I'm not sure it will work the same for StepMania themes, though. I'll check it out when I get home today and see if I can make it work.

Ah... Ya... It's TRANSPARENCY

MSPaint doesn't handle Transparency... >_>

Here's the image you want(I used GIMP):



Save it to:

C:\Program Files\StepMania\Themes\default\Graphics\

and overwrite the one that's there.

You should copy your folder for the default theme and name it like, default (no marvs) so you can jut switch between the two when you want them on or off.

Whenever I get irritated with Marvelous I just turn on Blind.
