Just started playing stepmania ... had a look here and ppl seem to use a load of abbreiviations :P

I did do a search but it just came up with a load of random threads so firstly...

- What does FC mean?

2nd ... what do ppl mean when they say playing 'index' ?

thirdly would a wireless keyboard make me suck? ..I can do the 7/8 foot ones at best but its only normally passing with B/C

Lastly ...Would ppl advise using something like WSAD instead of arrow keys ?? (i prefer using 1 hand/3fingers).

1. FC means Full Combo

2. Index/Indexing means you play stepmania using your Index Fingers.

3. Wireless Keyboards have bad response timing, and you need the best response time you can get when playing StepMania.

4. It doesn't matter which keys you use, go ahead and use WSAD if you think it helps.

What ppl play with just two index fingers?

Also one last thing ...anyone find that playing in windowed mode makes much difference to full screen?>

1hand 3 fingers might seem the natural way to start, but you should at least experiment ( and *honestly* give indexing and four fingers a try) with other styles.

thanks for the replies guys .... sorry to ask again but indexing = like left hand index finger on left / up and right hand on right / down?

I had a go at that, just felt strange... I also tried playing using

e / r / o / p ..that made me get like everything 'marvellous' but i couldnt seem to do the more complex bits like that (cna only do the 8feet ones with 3 fingers) ..Just takes some getting used to i guess??

Also i was looking for some relatively easy metal simfiles to get ...Had a look on here but in the reviews everyone was like 'why did u put this one...someone has done it better already' , then I couldn't find the better version lol

So i got Dawn of Victory by rhapsody and i looked f**king impossible lol ...just a button mash :P

Any tips / good metal songs that are like 7-10 difficulty would be appreciated

I should say it now, while you're still new to Stepmania.

Don't download random pieces of shit by random artists. Some of the simfiles people make are completely stupid. Download stuff by people like Cynic, aperson, Reach, dantheman650, toph and a few other good artists.

Since you're still playing the 8 - 10 footer songs, I'd go for Cynic and toph simfiles. Since they have more than one step chart.

sorry for the question fest lol but where can i get files by those guys?? ... the search thing here only lets u do it by the person who uploaded it and those just seem to be random people ... Also that other site thats supposedly the best one is down atm .

Any ideas?
