How are you able to play versus on SM?

Make sure the second player keys are set up the way you want them. When it shows the play styles, press the second player start. It should then show versus, double and couple. Have fun.

Also,
1) You might want an internet keyboard so that it won't beep at you then you both have to hit jumps...

2) To customize the controls, you gotta go to Input Options under the options menu. (Just in case you didn't know... >_>)
