    Question About StepMania

    Ok, I've been wondering about this for a while,
    Can you,
    Install StepMania to a disc, along with the songs and all that jazz?

    A CD? Well it's technically possible since you can add custom fields for where to put your songs. Problem is the machine data (including scores, config...) and the cache are saved in subfolders which would be read-only on a CD, so you'd need to edit the code to change that path I would think.

      Yes, you can install StepMania to a CD. I have already done so. It just won't save thes scores and config settings. What I did to install it to a CD is install it to a directory on my desktop (it can be anywhere), put the songs in that I wanted, and burned those files to a CD. If you want an autorun, open up notepad save it as autorun.inf, and put this code on it:
      Code:
      [autorun]
      open=Program\StepMania.exe
      icon=Program\StepMania.exe
      This doesn't go in any folder on the CD, just in the root directory. Make sure when you burn the files on the CD, you only burn the contents of the StepMania folder on your desktop. Don't burn that whole folder.

        No, no. Just save the file you get when you download the program from the StepMania site. Then save all the songs in a folder and in, like, Notepad just write instructions on how to run the installer and move the songs over to the program. I've done this and it's really good because most people wont want to play it very much if they don't have many songs.

                            Stepmania does not like running off of a CD. It will lag severely and skip a lot if you do so.
