When I'm on Stepmania I see this Sorceforge page where you download your files. What is Sourceforge?

Well actually it's an entire suite of tools for open source projects, including news, buglists. feature requests, some simple forums, CVS (so everyone can work on one program together) and more importantly website and file hosting. All of their files are mirrored over about 12 places so that's why you select a mirror at SourceForge.
