When I'm playing a song, arrow keys will work for a little bit and then not work for a couple of seconds. Anyone know why this is?

Computer lag and other programs. Try closing out of as many programs as you can before you start stepmania. I found keeping winamp open gave me the same problem. Once I closed it, everything went perfectly.One day there will be a really cool sig here. But not right now.

umm..
try making it windowed.. turn down the graphics levels also... the little things will help out..
try running at 1024x768 (or whatever that level is)or 800x600... also you can turn down the background brightness...

what proccessor and video card do you guys have?
Try turning down the texture detail, windowed mode (automatically 640x480), or full screen mode with different resolutions (try 640x480)

well my monitor doesnt go that low... so i had forgotte about 640x480... but thnx for the follow up...
