I'm sure this topic's been torn to shreds, so, my apologies for bringing it up again, but i've got a question. I'm switching to 4 fingers because my friend that plays introduced me to much harder songs than I had seen before. "indexing," as you guys call it from other topics i've read, was fine for songs that i had considered hard before. For example, I had 3 perfects on V by bemaniruler (i can never full-marvelous the jumps -_-) but then my friend introduced me to hellraiser and I got like a B or something with indexing. Then i came here and noticed that all the top-notch players use 4 fingers. So, i was wondering, on the arrow keys, where does each finger go? Thanks

RE: 4 fingers
A lot of good people play with indexes. We even have a 'top ten index players' in the brag board. Although index player are not held to the same level as 4 finger players.
I use four finger and I use zx./ , but whatever is most comfortable and registers the best for you is what you should go with if you want to switch.

RE: 4 fingers
Wow. This is pretty much the exact same thing I did, I was an indexer and switched to 4 finger. And its Hell Scaper
Well you have 2 big choises, to play on the arrow keys or play spread. Spread is using the letter keys. I use the keys: d, r, j and k I used r because I was an index player and just couldn't get rid of raising my finger to hit the up arrow. Your left index finger should go on the up arrow and stay there, never move it when playing songs. Your left middle finger should go on the left arrow, and stay there. Your right index finger should go on the down arrow, and your right middle finger goes on the right arrow, both should stay there.
You may switch finger positions to whatever you like, and if you have to you may move your finger. Thats the way I play and its working for me. Got any other questions?Comment

This is probably getting a little too nitty gritty, but when you play with a spread setup, do you keep your wrists on the table/keyboard pad or in the air? I've tried both and I'm not sure whats better, just wanna know what you guys think, sorry for the bump.

Check out his extremely lame advertisement.Originally posted by qwv123check out my sm movies at qwv123.tripod.com I use 4 fingers. =)
Anyways, on the subject, meh, I haven't found good use at four fingers yet. I still say someone needs to post something of the most commonly used styles (one-hand, index, etc) upon this board.Comment
