    RE: SMLAN---Help :/

Well, there's some things you need to do.

When you start a server and want to connect to it yourself, you have to type in your own IP, NOT 127.0.0.1. Then your friend connects to that. After that, it should be easy...close the options, go through the start procedure (Single, Heavy...) Then the SMLAN screen is arisen. Control+Enter checks for songs, and again starts it.

Possible troubleshooting would be firewalls and routers. Portforward SM and/or disable firewalls.

PS - My problem is much more irritating. I setup port-forwarding for SM and have no firewalls. I can start a server fine, but I can't even connect to MYSELF.

That IP is your NAT. Meaning you're firewalled.

Go here for your IP: http://www.whatismyip.com/

          Then follow Squeek's instructions.
If that doesn't work, you will need to forward the SMLan port.

An explanation of port forwarding and the necessary steps to set up port forwarding in your router.

          Open up port 8765.

If that doesn't work, you will need to make your modem/router Full/Half-Bridge.
If after opening the port it doesn't work, just let someone else host. I advise you don't try anything concerned with enabling Full or Half-Bridge.
