Stepmania ONI Competition

The Stepmania ONI Competition:

-The idea:
It's in human nature to compete with one another, and you can see it here in the brag boards of FFR. Only it's hard to think of a way to compete with one another online with SM because what do you base it on? How many songs you have? Scores on specific songs? How many songs you've played? Seems rather silly for a competition. That's when I thought, why not compete with Oni courses?
I thought about it, and this is what I came up with:

-How it would work:
Each week a new Oni course (Or courses) would be posted here in the SM forum, and anyone could download it and compete. You just play the Oni course (Or courses) and get as far as you can get on it. When you think you've gotten the best score you can get on the course, take a snapshot of the Evaluation Page and upload it to say Photobucket.com or whatever and post a link of the snapshot onto the thread of the ONI course (rather than uploading it onto the FFR site).

After a week passes, the competition for that course would end, and whoever posted the highest score or got the farthest in the specific course would be dubbed "the course champion".

Prize? Well, I thought maybe if you became "champion" of a course, the course's name would be changed to " username's course ". Then at the end of every 2 months, we could just upload all the winning courses to the simfile database or something. Then FFR could have it's own SM courses for download. Plus you could brag to all your friends and other people online that you have a course named after ya.^^

Whoever wants to make the courses I guess. I'll try and make them. What's more important is which courses would be official. Cause anyone could just make a course and post it, which would just ruin the idea of a tourney.
Also the courses would have to be different. If every course had Legend of Max it'd be boring.

Hmm...alrighty, there's a couple good points.
The songs on the courses would all have to be easily obtainable.
So it'd probably be best if the courses dealt only with Official song files that way you don't have to continuously download new ones.

Maybe a trial run of this competition is needed that way I could get the bugs out.

To make courses i'm pretty sure you need the song you want in the right folder. Well some people dont have the songs in the same folder as the course.

If you're gonna do this, I suggest providing links to download each file included, along with directions on what to call the song folder, since snapps is right, and a specific song folder is needed. For instance, "stepmania\songs\[Tournament Name]" and everyone can just temporarily move their songs there, and then back, if they feel the need. I would also recommend doing some courses with special mods, for instance, one where you have to do bag 1x (you can specify mods), etc.

Actually you don't have to have songs in specific folders in order for a course to work. Try it out. I've made Oni courses before and SM will just search for the song regardless if it's in a specific folder or not. As long as the song name listed on the course matches the name written on the DWI file.
That would be the only problem. But it's easy to change the name on the course to match the song you have.

Mods are a great idea. It would allow for any song to be used.
