Help picking a SM version

So I got win7 64bit instead of the 32 bit i had before to play Overwatch, and the thing is i wanna download Stepmania.

I used to have stepmania 5.0 which i got last year but now apparently stepmania 5.1 is out and I just saw there's a build by Mina with a few tweaks for efficiency and a cool theme with a new grading system.

My question is which one do you think is better at the moment or which one are you using? Is 5.1 stable?

And, is it possible to have 5.1 and Mina's at the same time without issues?

I would download SM 5.0.12 first and then get xwidget custom build after that because I don't have any issues with it as up right now.

Currently, I'm using xwidget's custom build with my modification of Transcendence.

short answer is no

the build was intentionally forked pre-5.1 becasue it was deemed after scanning changelogs that 5.1 had nothing substantive to offer despite fundamentally changing a variety of systems without adding any backwards compatibility

however by using portable.ini to keep your save info localized for each installation in the install folder and the additionalsongsfolder preference you can keep side-by-side installations of different versions for testing without any interference or duplicated songs folders

i keep installs of 3.95/5.0.12 vanilla/5.0.12 custom release/5.0.12 custom wip/5.1/5.1.-3 for testing purposes

in the event that you don't want to experiment and just want to be told what's best then xwidgets/my build is better yes
