for solo/6 keys, it's already set-up i think; i used stepmania 5 and i just picked solo when it asked whether i wanted 1 player, 2 player, or solo i think

i don't exactly remember when it asks you which playstyle you want, but i think it's one of the beginning options you pick when you press start at the menu screen

i'm not sure how to pick five keys for the playstyle though

center1player is what you want for centered keys (browse the appropriate options screens stemming off the main menu)

for 6k you should be able to see any song difficulties named "solo", those are 6k. you can find solo focused packs on smo. 5k you need to set your gamemode to pump/PIU in the game options, in game options or player options there should be a setting called "center 1 player". just turn that on

Another one bites the dust to stepmanias configuration..

I'd recommend grabbing https://github.com/MinaciousGrace/Transcendence , it's a nice basic skin that looks pretty good and has all the features you'd want, like the PA meter, pacemaker (that meter on the right lot of people have that shows your progress to AA etc), option to lower note size (mini) etc, it also seems to track your time played, total arrows hit etc, which is pretty cool.

Make sure when you use this skin you use a 4:3 resolution - if you don't, nothing will line up and it will look extremely buggy/be impossible to navigate.

You need to go to the options menu and create a profile ASAP - this will allow your settings like scroll direction, speedmod, visual settings etc to save, and for your scores to save.

EDIT: Another key thing that is really underrated for new stepmania players - make sure you go through the settings menu, especially graphics settings, and get everything sorted - game running at a good fps, the correct resolution etc. When you are customizing your theme, the positioning of most things is in the metrics.ini in the themes folder (combo position etc) - you have to manually mess about with it most time to move stuff around (for ex the combo count position, judgment etc) - you can press SHIFT+F2 ingame to reload your metrics.ini file so you don't have to restart stepmania.

I'd also recommend getting a custom note skin - I would say to use delta-custom-note http://puu.sh/4Ra1D , alot of people seem to use dividebyzero as well, http://www.mediafire.com/download/al...eByZeroSM5.rar

Regarding 6k or 5k, I'd honestly just recommend playing osumania, but if you really want to you might need another theme, I'm not sure how it works with mina's theme but it might be possible to play other keymodes - you would probably need to download

1: In the Options, go to Display Options then UI Options. The first option is "Center 1 Player". This will move the arrows over to the center of the window when playing 4k alone. Unsure if this works for 5k or not.
2: When chooseing modes to play, select Solo for 6k. For 5k, go to Select Game and choose "pump".
3: F8 ingame will toggle this. There should also be an Atuoplay option in the stage options when you hit enter after selecting a stage to play.
