Progression?

Hello,

I'm just starting out and I am having a blast. I have gotten a lot of help here, which is great.

My question is this: is there any sort of a progression, even a very loose one, that I am able to or should follow?

I was just wondering if there is anything similar for StepMania.

If you'd like you can search for the song lists of previous official/non-official tournaments for some progression list ideas. It'd be pretty easy to read the cut offs of the last tournament on the dashboard. Pick a division and see how far you can make it without being "eliminated", also note that it goes by raw score so clean PA's > combos. Start at 1, if you do well then try 2, etc. etc.

Other than that there are rivalry threads that puts up song lists quite often, so if you're looking for some competitive goals you can always try those....RAWR!

Things i like to do when im working for scores is to look for more AAA's
I load levelranks, click 'D' once and start on the easiest songs first. If im not mistaken, i have everything from 1-38 AAA'ed.

The other thing i like to do, is hunt for Full Combos. For this i used the velo engine(however, i don't play on it) I load Velo in a separate window. At the top, i sort by difficulty, click ascending. Then i hide all AAA's and FC's that i already have with the check boxes on the right. Then it shows the easiest rated songs i don't have a full combo on. I use this just as a list, and play the game on the R^3 engine.

Keep in mind that songs are rated well, but different patterns may be harder or easier for you to hit. For this reason, some songs appear easier or harder than their rating.

You know... I have no clue.

I would try with the more popular packs, I know several of the files overlap. The easier stuff might be tricky to find though.

I saw the thread with the list of SM song packs, and saw the packs with the stars next them to denote whether they included beginner/novice songs, but I felt a bit overwhelmed. I guess what I'm asking is whether there is any sort of an order I should be playing song packs in, or whether there are particularly renowned song packs I could start off with. I just downloaded a couple of Otaku's Dream song packs that were popularly rated on the SMO website.

The Flash Flash Revolution Community Pack 2 has an intentional song order, if that's what you're looking for.

Also FFR Community Novice Files Compilation.

And if you wanna sift through some stuff, List of all Major Packs. You should be able to find a good deal of packs that have what you're after, and more...RAWR!
