    Hypothetical index controller

if anyone can build anything like this I'm sure at least several people here would want to buy one

it would make index *way* more impressive to watch on video, and quads wouldn't be infuriating

    http://www.arcadeshop.de/Illum-Butto...white_503.html these are $10.50 each

so you could build this thing for... probably less than $80 and maybe less than $60 if you somehow have spare parts

hi I can, been building a 8 key controller atm

edit: about sending stuff from the USA to EU and EU to USA, there is an insane shipping costs which is just not worth it and thats excluding the unexpected tax invoice which will fuck you over

like I bought iidx controllers from the USA a while back, was 80 euro shipping and got 2 weeks laters a letter saying I had to had to pay 61 tax invoice costs.

I got most of the parts from arcadewinkel.nl because I'm in EUROPE, also this is the usb controller I used

          http://www.arcadewinkel.nl/interface...roller-1speler

you get easy cables with it to cable it to any arcarde buttons, the wood is just easy shit even a 2 year old can do haha

also I made a vid of the 8key controller

Do Pop'n buttons (or the ones you linked) have equal resistance throughout the switch? I've never played Pop'n with an actual controller for it, so I wouldn't know.

            Released!

Whoops, I meant to ask if the actuation force is the same whether you push it from the top compared to from near the edge, like how pressing the space bar from the middle generally has less force needed than pressing from the side.

Oh man pop'n buttons feel so nice to hit haha. I think I would play index exclusively with a controller like what you're proposing

                      Re: Hypothetical index controller

An additional benefit of a controller like this is that it's not actually much harder to move across buttons than it is to move across keys, e.g. if I can AA Reality on arrow keys with at most ~1 inch of distance I can also probably AA it on something with several inches of distance per key. In fact, my score may even be higher because I can move more.

But the added benefit is that it's way more entertaining to look at on a video; with index play you can barely see their fingers moving unless you do what I did and use a mirror or frame to zero-in on finger movements.

I still think js and bursts would be more awkward than a kb?
                        Time to start indexing again.

bursts might be, I doubt js would though

actually, I do know what would be a lot harder: jackhammer doubles a la Club

I'm too tired to be able to articulate exactly why at the moment, but if you've played songs with these patterns on pop'n music you'll know what I mean. the sensitivity of the buttons makes clean jack patterns difficult
