10 key with two USB keyboards

Would this work? You could use 1234[space], q234[space], qwer[space] or whichever works on one keyboard, and [space]890p, [space]uiop or [space]7890 on the other.

It's odd that it took me this long to think about doing this. Anyway, yeah -- would you be able to press all 10 buttons at once?

If this does work, my burning desire for 10-key Stepmania could be finally realized.

Space wouldnt be able to be mapped as two keys, because it would still only register as one key, unless you were to program that individual stepmania to have that ability. If not i dont really see a button fit for the thumb :/

Presumably I could use V instead of space. I've been doing that anyway when I play one-handed on my left hand.

But other than that, everything else would work?

Yeah of course, mechanical keyboards is your game though, otherwise you might have some issues with registering 5 notes and higher jumps. V would kind of work but holy shit it would take so much practice getting used to those notes.

Imagine a new controller, like a minikeyboard with 5 buttons but it exists as a nunchuk so it has 2 parts so you can place them near eachother or far away from eachother. That's something that potentially could be built.

Building a 10-key custom sm controller is doable with a soldering iron, ordering some cherry mx switches and some pcb

how much would you charge for this?

say I wanted two shift keys and four regular-sized keys. could you mod, say, a logitech K120 to be this way?

Sorry I've never done this myself but its prolly doable with for example some xbox360 controller with usb interface, just unscrew it, take out the stuff inside make a new housing for it and make buttons. my friend made a fighting game controller box from a ps3 controller and it works perfectly fine

(assuming that controler has at least 10 different input buttons)
