    DDR pad for pc

since i dont have a pad or a ps at all and i wanna play stepmania on my pc, what should i get? should i get a ddr pad for the comp (usb or serial) or should i get a psx -> pc adapter (usb). I find that it is really hard to find a pad for pc but there are pads for psx everywhere along w/ adapters. the only prob w/ this is that i would have to pay much more for both the pad and adapter than gettin the pc pad alone. If anyoen could help me out.. i would much appreciate it. thx

I dont think there are DDRpads designed for the computer (there is for pump-it-up). It would be best to get the USB adapter and a PS pad.

          yea

yea iv esearched this long and hard too...... ive found that a psx adapter would be the best way to go.... their is pads for the pc but they make better pads for ps, so its best to get a ps adapter, ive also foun that this adapter had been recogmended by lots of peeps, http://www.levelsix.com/products/pc/EMSUSB2.shtml as for hard or soft pad, tats just a opinion thing, hard pads supposedly dont move around a lot, but soft pads are just a mod away from the same thing and their cheeper, so youll just have to figure that out on your own

A ways back, I purchased a pad for my PSX, and discovered that it also had a serial port... then again, it's a crappy pad, so if the PSX ones you're looking into are better, go with one of them.

              question

I already have a soft pad.. I was looking at the USB adapters and I noticed that all of them say they're only guaranteed to work with Sony controllers.. but mine is a 3rd party pad? Does anyone know if it will still work?

Well my pad has a serial adapter, and it works great. Unfortunately, it took me about 2 hours to figure out a problem with the driver i had downloaded. Not sure if there are problems with a USB adapter, but i have heard rumors about there being problems.

Spazzbite, could you please tell me more about this pad you have?

                        What brand is it?

                        What did it cost?

                        Where did you get it?

                        Is it a PS pad?

Do you use Stepmania 3.0 Final with this pad? (and do doubles work fine?)

Do you use Windows (if so what version)?

Is a serial port one of those connections with the "prongs" at the end? You know... </imacomputerdummy>

If you can, please tell me these things (sorry about all the questions). I have been searching for a good, not-too-expensive pad for the PC that is responsive enough to play songs in stepmania.
