sm5 question

So my SM 3.95 managed to crap the bed and stop working, so I've got to start using SM5. It's a lot better than 3.95 but how do I change the default speedmod and noteskin? I know how to add them, but I can't seem to find a way to get them to be defaults and not just options.

Run %appdata%, go to Stepmania 5 -> LocalProfiles -> Your profile (00000000 being your first) -> speedmods.txt

Just did that; in the file there's the only speedmod I want, but for some reason when I load up SM5 and play any song a mysterious '1x' pops up and is the default speedmod still. :/

Not sure, so sorry if I waste your time. But if you go to preference.ini it should have the setting at the bottom of the page for default speemod/noteskin.

Go to this directory:
(Where You put SM)\StepMania 5\Save\LocalProfiles\00000000\

If this does not exist go to:
C:\Users\[YOU]\AppData\Roaming\StepMania 5\Save\LocalProfiles\00000000\

Open stats.xml in notepad and press control + F (to bring up the find window).

Type <dance> in the box, and once it finds this you should see your current default speed modifier and note-skin. Chances are your default speed modifier is x1, replace this with Cxxx and save the document.

Open up StepMania.

Change that line to whatever the speedmod was that you set, and whatever other mods you normally play on.
