The biggest issue with the file is the song choice. It's very repetitive with very few things to actually make it difficult enough for it to be a fun keyboard file.

This is fine if you're just practicing on easier songs before you try anything more difficult, since you can't expect the first files you make to be of releasable quality.

I will give you props for starting out stepping a song that hasn't been stepped before.

Yeah your ideas are cool!!
The only thing needed for you is to improve your musical ear and your own listening to the song so you could make appropriated steps. The problem exists for every beginners in stepping : the sensory conception of the song is always simpler than what it should be, you'll just improve naturally by experience.

i never realized FFR had some kind of rumor about hating hands

songs can have hands because generally there's parts that need more expression than just a jump (or if you're stepping a sound a note those parts require triples)

The cut of a song is typically the problem, not the song itself in all cases.

And about the "hating hands at the end" crap has to be bullshit. Every other rhythm game has some type of build up within some files for the pure purpose of "this is the end, and it is going to be ****ing hard."

I've toned down, I don't use 192nds and colour theory nearly as much as I used to zzz

gotta love going through phases and styles. it gets boring recycling the same style and method over and over again
